Jazzy Hip Hop - E.P

A live record I engineered in Avondale inside an Industrial warehouse. It's unpolished and raw but has a sweet vibe.

Average Rap Band (Tom Scott & Lui Tuiasau) - Release Groundbreaking Introspective Rap Record "Stream of Nonsenseness"

Produced by Dandruff Dicky

Budget for record $42 dollars but it sounds

like a million redistributed dollars. There are

also some really tasty t-shirts available via

bandcamp

Favourite track at the mo: Bending Spoons

It was actually really buzzy cause I just watched this really boring youtube video about the difference between analytical philosophy and the continental vibes  So it's good to know Tom Scott and his peer-reviewed crew don't think much of the analytical side of things just listen to the lampooning on "What it Is" the sampled geezer clearly conveys how boring and full of crap sanitised philosophy can be!

I mean I was doing an honours course at debt ladened AU and had the misfortune of choosing a $1000 honours paper that studied word for word Ludwig Wittgensteins "Philosophical Investigations" to be honest I enjoyed it in a quirky way but couldn't understand any of the logic and stuff in it. I read it my way as I wasn't 'allowed' to read any secondary texts (books on hard and confusing books) in the end I just canned it.

Anyway all the continental philosophers are god damn Rockstars aka Nietzsche, Zizek, Plato, Marx but some analytical philosophers are cool to like Aristotle and Kant is kind of half of each side and ethics is mainly analytical and I really enjoy that stuff but anything to heavy on the numbers and Im putting that book down. Just like the old skool wise dude Montainge  he guy who invented the essay he said 'I aint hurting my head for no book, read read it again but i'd rather throw it away then stress out about it!' (paraphrase). Proust also a total continental guy believed every book no matter how good it was none of them no book can ever be above being thrown away by us in favour of doing something else ironic as he wrote the longest most windy and slow paced book in the world but apparently its pretty good I mean the title is basically the dopiest ever "In Search of Lost Time"

Drake Dropping some Philosophical Gems Courtesy of Sprite and The Fader

Drake's main points - just keep moving forward don't worry about your wins or losses just keep raking them up regardless - quantity over quality produces quality

"Keep things moving"

Be proud and represent your City don't listen to anyone tell you about rainbows and the easy street
that doesn't exist in another country or city

Remember to mix things up and always push the envelop people want an artist not just a rapper,
very true as I see artists who think about videos, artwork, sounds, songs, vibes, and variation on
the same old stuff

Haters are just showing you love their invested in you - they are the confused ones

Sometimes your Dad has a good idea and you should listen to them

Story telling is everything and staying true to your own unique tales

If you got the Music thats all you need nothing else, 'Flip your way of thinking'

New Single: Lupe Fiasco - "Piru Blues" Very Nice (Reminds me off J Cole's Flow)

A secret track from Lupe Fiasco because he's feeling so festive. Shout outs to Artistic Manifesto for putting me onto the track so fast!!! I like the crispy hi hats, the screaming monkey in the background and sampled oldskool Drums (MPC). I also like the surreal stabs that remind me off ancient buddhist monk temples. The vocals shine on this track with the delay tastefully applied in the mix. Easy to see why this didn't make the major label release but also obvious why Lupe liked it enough to throw it out into the universnet. All in all a very listenable song that is great to relax and unwind to, shot Santa.

New Release: "Mike Will Been Trill" - Claims Instant Classic featuring Saint Nicholas Updated: Na I listened to this More and it is a classic!!! MikeWillMadeIt

Na I listened to this More and it is a classic!!! MikeWillMadeIt!!!

Here's  a new mixtape from Mike-Will-Made-It called "MikeWillBeenTrill". Apparently the author claims that the free record in his own words is another classic and lets face it with confidence like that it could be bro. He also claims that his bag of tricks is well packed with banger beats because "this aint even a third of my back catalogue". He's been on a roll this December and you just can't help but be impressed by an artist that is still locked in with his core fans who where them from day one.

Na I listened to this More and it is a classic!!! MikeWillMadeIt!!!

The release features 2 Chainz, Big Sean, Jay-Z even Miley Cyrus for a rehash of a song they made.  My favorite is the tune with Jay-Z (it seems the best recorded). I wasn't really feeling Big Seans track and 2 Chainz I almost fell asleep on, everything else also seems a bit like dull chrome that needs to be brought up to par. The release is good just not great and definitely not a classic. Make up your own mind. I like the intro when he talks shit about being Saint Nicholas that's gold. I'm also feeling Futures tune that is sick to the hell that stolen from the devil shit.

Premier: Spycc - Slow Down - Shot on Video Camcorder

My mutual friend Spycc released his latest music video "Slow Down" in early December. I dig the tongue in check video. It looks like it was shot on a camcorder that 90's oldskool ting before the digital revolution. I went to "Onehunga High School" when the aforementioned rapper was in attendance I remember those days very vividly.

The kids were always onto the latest trends way before I was. Thinking back I remember all my friends doing the Soljah Boy dance before anyone else was in NZ haha. People were always saying this guy is coming up man, next thing you know he is the first person born in the 90's to go number one (US).

On the track the flow of Spycc is dope as always. I really like the energy of the video and the little kid riding on the tricycle reminds me of the one I had. It was blue though and it got all rusted because I left it in the rain. The back trailer was just a hole.

It's great to see kids still going hard on their tricycles and dope to see Spycc promoting positive vibes in the community. It would be sick if this song was getting solid spins on TV over Xmas. It would totally open up the doors to other artist getting local content on TV. Seems rather silly that something by NZ on Air should get spins while something else doesn't when there is no difference in the content. Hopefully Spycc's video kicks down some doors in the industry that needs to remember Talent is at the top of the industry and everything else is dependent on emerging artists.

To sum up I'm loving the video, loving Onehunga talent & looking forward more new music in 2014!

New Music: PNC, P-Diggs (Shapeshifter) & Pat of State of Mind - Drop New Single "Ride" - Solid

PNC, P-Diggs (Shapeshifter) & Pat of State of Mind have released a new track called "Ride".              I've gotta say straight out of the box the vocal production on this song is stunning. It's great to hear PNC's flow on full fire like Charizard roasting a Snorlax. I wonder who tracked the vocals.
A minute ago PNC retweeted something saying The Neos were lost with a Goat in Britomart looking for the VNZMAS haha. We were actually in Welly but I thought it was funny.

P-Digs vocals shine on this track and its awesome that producers Matt Miller and Pat teamed up to add in the Trance-Dance drop. It's also super nice to hear PNC's flow being before the beat. Sometimes NZ rappers tend to hang back on their timing when flowing over a beat (must be something to do with how chill we are in Kiwiland).

This is getting a thumbs up from us and you should get your hands on a Dirty Records download off iTunes if your feeling it. Wish Kiwi artist would start pressing Vinyls of their dope music and selling it independent. That would be crank!!!

Premier: David Dallas - The Wire Feat Ruby Frost - Rap Flow is On Point

Here is the new David Dallas video "The Wire" co-starring Ruby Frost. I'm digging the visuals of the video shot by Joel Kafeli (Lorde). I think the flow on this song is a solid effort by the South Auckland Rap upstart. Arguably the kid is reigning supreme in NZ. Not sure about the choice of Ruby Frost's "Wire"vocal  motif, sounds a little bit strained. But, DDot's flow is on point.

The great thing about David Dallas is his perserverance and hard-work. He could potentially hunt down a solid stateside hit. All he needs is a top songwriter to help him kill the hook like Alicia Keys and Jay-Z when they teamed up on "New York" (outsider writers penned the hook). No doubt The Neo-Kalashnikovs could deliver a renewed injection into the creative mix (lyrically, vocally, hooks)   but at the end of the day thats the artists decision.

If I was helping manage David Dallas I would concentrate on dropping singles every 3 months and throwing away the album format. Bigger buzz and happier fans. It would no doubt be easier to fuel his creative model. Wishing him a solid 2014 and Sorry for insulting ya bro (real talk)!!! :), just pissed me off hard when NZ on Air didn't give me a shot and my detractors on the board were allowed to run a personal vendetta when they should be concentrating on funding dope art. And it's still all good.

New Song by Kid Cudi - "Satellite Flight" (Out 2 Days)

Here's the latest song from Kid Cudi. It's been out only two days and has racked up over 250,000 plays (nice). The fans are feeling the track as well. My favourite part is the sampled intro (brilliant). Im my mind this song seems very smoked out. But thats not a bad thing and I am a really solid supporter of Kid Cudi. Personally my favourite song he's ever done is "Sound Track To My Life" (See below).

"Satellite Flight" is a great song that definitely grows on you and gets better the more listens you give it. The song would bloom with a wacky as hell video with martians and satellites.

My description of the song and events that lead up to its production would be: Kid Cudi waking up from a deep slumber in his bed on Mars.  Then after having an asteroid shower, deciding to record a new song through a cherished vaporiser, before escaping into space with his moon boots. I guess now he's just a Satellite in space in mid-flight trying to survive. Stay tuned for a new record dropping out of the sky from Cudderland.

Love Cleveland, even though I nearly died their!!! :)

Love this song: "Sound Track To My Life"
