Nirvana - Heart-Shaped Box - Need to Counteract cheesy posts arghhh!!! :) Dead Sara Cover

The theme and ideas for the legendary Nirvana video were actually ripped off by the band and second director that ended up shooting the music video. Arguably it could not have been shot better. It seems like a sad thing to do though ripping off someones idea and using it behind their back. All good though hopefully this video counteracts the cheesy Guy Sebastian post and Digital Santa.

I've also included the professionally recorded cover by Dead Sara of "Like A Broken Drum" I mean "Heart-shaped Box". Is it just me or do they songs sound slightly similar, perhaps something was lifted bu Guy Sebastian. No, I don't think thats even possible perhaps his writers were listening to Nirvana at the time. Na, I think I just need to get my ears checked. Lemon Scent is the latest song from Dead Sara
they are working on their next album, see what you think?!

Digital Santa Created by Corporate Airline HA HA HA

This is just stupid haha. 33 million hits do my eyes deceive me. Just a trans-national giving money back to the people that have none - typical. Don't support this seems to cynical at the heart of it. Just an advert that everyone got sucked into but not me ;) lol or did I because I just watched half of it then decided to post it - damn it!

Premier: Guy Sebastian - Like A Broken Drum (Music Video)

This is a really interesting video from Mr Guy Sebastian. "Like a Broken Drum" is his latest single at it's kind of cheesy haha. Like the majority of the world population I to am surprised by Guy Sebastian. Like many I thought he was a flash in the pan. But even I didn't mind his song about a hot woman walking into the club (Like She Just Walked into the Club!!!).

Although not bad this song seems to be a bit confused is there even a drum in the video (gotta admit I couldn't watch most of it). Guy Sebastian isn't really my cup of tea but I'm sure his core-fanbase are happy about the new single (someone has to be right).

The reason I really like this song is because I no it's not really gonna get hammered on the radio which is a good thing. I'm kind of over hearing Mr Sebastian's voice screaming about pointless dribble that someone else has written. It's kind of like fast-food his music and I'm in need of a proper meal like everyone else in Australasia. We have to admit it Guy Sebastian is full of surprises and I he imagine will continue to be a culture anomaly, never to be repeated.

If you like cheesy fast-food music this song is for you!!! I've listen to the song so many times it kind of made me feel ill.

Introducing: Phantogram - Electro-Rock Duo from Saratoga Springs, New York

If you haven't heard of these Phantogram already don't worry, but they are worth checking out. Their sound reminds me off Passion pit yet more grimy but with better vocals. I just recently stumbled upon the duos new video on the myoldkentmyoldkentucky

I was skeptical at first of these guys at first because they don't really look like stars. However, their music is on another level, truly :). Apparently they have worked with a some of the top artists on respective backing tracks including 3 songs on Big Boi of the Outkast's latest album (even though the the group has faded from mainstream visibility, oh you fickle world lol).

The New York dance-rock extraordinares have also toured with the who's who of US talent including;  The AntlersBeach HouseMetricMinus The BearCaribouZero 7The xxRa Ra RiotSchool of Seven BellsYeasayerBrazilian GirlsFuture Islands, and The Glitch Mob. And have also been regulars at some of the biggest festivals across the region like Cochella, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, etc.

The singing of Sarah Barthel is splendid and almost otherworldly while the production is gritty raw yet very commercial. These guys are a band to watch out for as they will be releasing their first record on a major label very soon. It's fantastic to see independents doing so well and representing New York in style.

Premier: Spycc - Slow Down - Shot on Video Camcorder

My mutual friend Spycc released his latest music video "Slow Down" in early December. I dig the tongue in check video. It looks like it was shot on a camcorder that 90's oldskool ting before the digital revolution. I went to "Onehunga High School" when the aforementioned rapper was in attendance I remember those days very vividly.

The kids were always onto the latest trends way before I was. Thinking back I remember all my friends doing the Soljah Boy dance before anyone else was in NZ haha. People were always saying this guy is coming up man, next thing you know he is the first person born in the 90's to go number one (US).

On the track the flow of Spycc is dope as always. I really like the energy of the video and the little kid riding on the tricycle reminds me of the one I had. It was blue though and it got all rusted because I left it in the rain. The back trailer was just a hole.

It's great to see kids still going hard on their tricycles and dope to see Spycc promoting positive vibes in the community. It would be sick if this song was getting solid spins on TV over Xmas. It would totally open up the doors to other artist getting local content on TV. Seems rather silly that something by NZ on Air should get spins while something else doesn't when there is no difference in the content. Hopefully Spycc's video kicks down some doors in the industry that needs to remember Talent is at the top of the industry and everything else is dependent on emerging artists.

To sum up I'm loving the video, loving Onehunga talent & looking forward more new music in 2014!
