King Krule: The Snarling "Easy Easy" (London)

I recently found out about the fire King Krule and his song "Easy Easy". Critics have been comparing him to Billy Bragg and it's not hard to see why. His songs are powerful and his voice is ginormous. The aforementioned song has a refreshing, genuine and British vibe too it. It's not indie dross or mainstream crap its genuine music that is in this day and age can be quite hard to find. He actually reminds me a lot of the Arctic Monekys before they blew up. The song is an extremely emotional performance in which Krule sings about dead end jobs, zombie people and the drabness of life in general.

However, despite the moross view of life offered by the young man that seeks to highlight how the bulk of the society is slowly being crushed to death, you just cant help but feel positive while listening at the same time (rare). It's this distinct talent of Krule to tie low points and high points of everyones life experiences together that makes him a compelling new artist.

I've also included his live performance on David Letterman that he smashed. Especially considering it was his American TV network debut in front of millions. On a side note what I think would be really exciting would be if Krule channelled a little more Johnny Rotten. Everyone knows that Krule can snarl and it would be awesome to see him hack at society even more than has done so far and more violently.  To sum up a brilliant new musician with cracker of a cricket swing :) Videos of the blazing Londonite below!!
Moss Rock

Easy Easy:

Well same old Bobby, same old beat
Well yeah they got nothing on me
The same old clutch, same old streets
But yeah they got nothing on me

And easy come and easy go
Well yeah I'm sure I told you so
Well they just want you for your dough
Man I'm sure I told you so

And with your dead-end job
That's been eating away your life
You feel a little inside
The trouble and strife

And now you spend your evenings
Searching for another life
And yeah I think maybe
I think you've got them in your sights

[Chorus]
Well, easy easy
There's no need to take that tone
Well easy
I'm on the telephone
Man just leave us alone

[Verse 2]
Ow no I should've kept my receipts
Cause the sandwich I bought
Yeah it's been off for a week

And 'low Tesco's stealing my money
When positivity seems hard to reach
I keep my head down and my mouth shut

Cause if you going through hell
We just keep going

[Chorus]

Lorde & James Blake "Grammy Mash-up"

While having my morning coffee I decided to mash-up of Lorde's "Royals" and James Blake's "Suddenly I See" because they're so brilliant.  Pretentious live videos in radio stations were a direct influence on my performance, they really helped propel me towards the stars like a cannonball  The video really shines after the 5th repeat watch. I wouldn't be surprised if they ripped me off, just sayin, Moss Rock.

"Turn The Tables" Rock Single off to FBI Radio in Aussy (The Neos)

Today The Neos sent off their Rock single "Turn The Tables" to FBI Radio by dragonfly with way to many postage stamps for the journey. The winged monster just couldn't get enough of those Hobbit stamps lol. I really hope the parcel got tracked Gabe haha
shout out to Volita for rocking the Glue Spraycan and getting those covers on haha!!!

Also a big thanks to our dad who took a day of work to roll up to the studio with us and produce the bands biggest songs so far. He really did a Rick Rubin and was sprawled out on the couch in the studio and just listened for a while like a Zen-master.

And while we were all struggling to cut the right performance he was chilling out. But then thankfully he saved the whole operation by telling us all to play TNT way slower. He also said the vibe of the track needed some more slacker rock, so he told us to not try to hard haha!

By the grace of the rock devil it definitely did the trick as its been the bands biggest radio success. Some one even said it was being spun in China (just a joke). Well not quite but its a tune with a good pair of legs on it and thats what you want!!! :) You can stream the song below, download it for free or buy it off iTunes!! whatever you do remember to rock the f@ck on !!!

Cure Motel - The Rotten side of Mangawhai Tavern

Auckland based recording artist Cure Motel and his Gonomada Tour were not happy muso's at Mangawhai Tavern this week . On their nationwide tour they thought it would be brilliant to pay their respects to Managwhai Tavern. A famous venue that they were stoked to be performing at. Unfortunately the reality of the venue was a complete illusion. When the tour first stepped into the venue there was a cold atmosphere. The management eventually came out to greet them and then immediately told them they didn't have a P.A. Something that the band was depending on the venue supplying. Something they could have brought but thought they wouldn't need. Despite this significant set-back Cure Motel and DJ Romantech managed to source a sound system from a neighboring venue the Pippi Lounge that were hospitable and warm.

However, despite acquiring a p.a for the gig Mangawhai tavern management were still throwing spanners in the work. For instance once the band had set-up their guitars, dj players and synths they were told to move right into the corner of the deck. This being at odds with the band who were happy being in the centre of the deck and trying to make the most of a bad situation. The managers then told the acts to turn their speakers up to blistering level. A volume that was potentially ear shattering as the subs on the system were already close to exploding. Apparently Managwahai tavern wanted people who lived in the hills to get excited and come down, never mind the hearing of touring musicians?
After discussing the ordeal with lead singer /producer Darcy Gladwin over the phone he also mentioned a severe shortage of food for the musical acts at the venue. Whether this was because of a bad financial position of the venue was not made apparent. The band were aggressively told to buy food at a restaurant across the road. Grudgingly they were given a staff discount but were made to feel severely awkward about asking for one.

Withstanding the bad vibes of the Manawhai tavern Cure Motel believed that the worst action taken by the venue predated Gonomada's arrival. This was because the venue had failed to bill the show on any part of the venue. Tour manager Darcy stated to me; "How the hell are people even going to know we are playing unless the venue does some form of promotion, can't they be bothered writing our name on the venue list. We've travelled hundreds of kilometers to share our music with Managawhai. It's been the worse touring experience ever by a country mile in New Zealand!

The head of management also had the nerve to tell Darcy that she would 'eat him for breakfast" amongst an assortment of disrespectful and threatening snipes. In our conversation about the rotten side of Mangawhai Tavern he summed up the whole debacle as a situation were one is systematically being terrorized by a venue with no compassion. And personally I have to agree with his view point as it really does seem the venue doesn't care about acts that will go on to be high-flyers in the future.

A Racket of a Road Crash!!! - NZ Rockers risk lives in Virtuous act as Good Samaritans

The band weighing up how to push the Totalled Car while dis-regarding Giant Petrol Leak!!!

Breaking News:
There was a Racket of a car- crash in Mt Albert today folks. Being the good old Moss Rock minding my own business, heaven behold, in my very own neck of the woods,  the whole Rackets Gang out in full force trying to rock a totalled vehicle out of on coming traffic. Funnily enough the driver of the car was still lodged in her seat trying her very best to make the car go up in a flaming fire-ball by gunning the engine to the max. Unfortunately my loyal readers, even Toyotas can't drive themselves when both wheels are completely munched into the bumper were the license plate you'se to live.

Despite the potentially life threatening scene that occurred at the lethal intersection of New North and Alberton Ave, the Rackets men were the Auckland Rock band of the hour. The trio piled out of their car like an All Black rugby scrum against Italy and decided to lend their raw power to the rage against the machine. It really was a tectonic sight Oscar, Jeremy and Vince pushed with all their might. Indeed they did their very best to clear the car from oncoming traffic. And seriously I don't know about you but fuck AA call Rackets those dudes are onto it bro!!

Anyway I didn't stay long enough to see what happened in the end hopefully rock prevailed over a half-destoyed pile of mangled metal. But hell, was I gonna hang around a leaking petrol bomb previously known as a car on the off chance that one of the gang might accidentally light a ciggie and send the whole bitch flying sky high, Hell No, but what a sight that would've been!!!
